From Innovation to
Disruption

This map* shows a new way of looking at innovations along two dimensions: technology and mindset.

The two dimensions represent these two challenges each innovation faces. For both dimensions there are several phases the innovation will go through, to eventually be considered a disruption. The challenge is identifying innovations today that will become disruptions tomorrow.
The map shows a snapshot of innovations and disruptions in 2014.

2014 ENVISIONED THE IDEA PHASE, NOTHING CREATED YET. PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT INSIDE A LABORATORY. APPLIED LIMITED DEPLOYMENT, TO TEST FEASIBILITY AND SCALABILITY. TECHNOLOGY SHIFT SCALE UP OF THE TECHNOLOGY. MORE DEPLOYMENTS. ESTABLISHED THE TECHNOLOGY IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF OUR LIFE. VITAL DIFFCULT TO LIVE WITHOUT THIS TECHNOLOGY. NATURALIZED WE USE IT EVERY DAY AND DO NOT EVEN REALIZE THAT IT IS A TECHNOLOGY. WANTED IS, OR SHOULD BE PART OF DAILY LIFE. ACCEPTED GETTING USED TO SEE AND USE IT. MIND SHIFT CHANGE OF MENTAL MODELS OR HABITS. CONTROVERSIAL/NICHE ADOPTED IN NICHES, SOCIETY IS SCEPTICAL OR HOSTILE. NOT ACCEPTED IDEAS THAT CANNOT, AND SHOULD NOT, BE MET YET.
